Development Report #1 – Leather Material

After seven rounds of adjustments, the leather material is now perfected. The color and texture differences are virtually zero. The first version of the development report includes microscope-level comparison images. You can refer to those for details⬇.

Material Selection

We use calf leather with embossed grain texture.
This is a proprietary material developed by our factory.
The level of authenticity is shown in the comparison images.

Development Report #2 – Pattern Alignment

A New Method for Better Accuracy

We abandoned traditional manufacturing methods.
To achieve more accurate pattern alignment,
we print each panel individually.
This allows us to replicate the retail with maximum accuracy.
The tradeoff: higher material waste and longer production times.
But it’s worth it for better results.

Pattern Alignment Progress (1)

The alignment layout is finalized.
Both the pattern and stitching guide templates are completed.
Next, we will fine-tune the colors and panel sizes before production begins.
This design is highly complex—each shoe requires 27 pattern colors.
Each color and its proportions are adjusted separately for high precision.

Pattern Alignment Progress (2)

Making a pair of shoes is a very complex process.

As shown in the image:

  • The pattern layout board is used to confirm the direction and proportion of the pattern.

  • The stitching guide board is used for a second check to make sure the pattern alignment and stitching positions are correct.

  • Each Patterned cut pieces is then precisely cut using a crystal knife.

  • After cutting, every piece is checked again using all the layout boards to ensure correct placement before it can go to the production line.

Step by step, we craft with care and aim for perfection.

Pattern Alignment Progress (3)

Most factories use full-sheet printed leather, then cut pieces roughly with crystal knives.
This method is fast and material-saving but often inaccurate.
We chose a different path: individually spray-printing each panel.
This results in more waste and longer production time,
but ensures near-perfect alignment for every pair.

Development Report #3 – Pattern Color Matching

Pattern colors are now finalized.
Each shoe requires 27 different pattern colors,
and each was individually color-matched.
This level of craftsmanship is not just a slogan—it’s our standard.

Development Report #4 – First Sample Comparison

The first pre-production sample is complete!
While some small details still need fine-tuning,
its quality already surpasses all other versions on the market.
Development took 40 days, and our standards kept rising.
We still found a few details to revise.

First Comparison (1) – Shoe Last & Shape

The Louis Vuitton Trainer x Takashi Murakami design has a slightly wider toe box than regular Trainers.
This is hard to notice with the naked eye but shows clear differences in data (black line in image).
Without replicating this accurately, the feel of the shoe would be off.
Also, the heel padding is currently too thick (white line), which will be corrected.

First Comparison (2) – Leather Texture

We custom-developed an exclusive embossing mold to match the authentic grain texture.
This pebble pattern is unique to our version.
Accuracy is over 99%—even under 5x magnification, it’s hard to tell apart from the retail.

First Comparison (3) – Pattern Placement

For printed designs, pattern alignment is critical.
We spent a large part of development adjusting layout and colors.
Results show our efforts paid off—alignment is near perfect.

In the images:

  • Even pattern placement near panel edges is exact (white curved line).

  • Light blue flower is correctly placed closer to the LV logo, not equally spaced.

  • Elements across connected panels are aligned as well—this is possible because our layout is handcrafted, not machine-generated.

First Comparison (4) – Detail Consistency

Our attention to detail goes beyond the main areas like the toe and sides.
Even less noticeable parts are handled with precision.

Example (black arrow in image):
Every flower, every color, every position must be correct.
We did find one pattern mistake (white arrow)—the white space inside a clover is not accurate.
This will be corrected in the next version.

First Comparison (5) – Logo and Additional Adjustments

This section was meant to highlight the gold foil logo.
However, we discovered another minor pattern issue (magnified in image).
Again, this will be corrected.
The purpose of the first version is to find and fix such issues—it is not the final product.

Development Report #5 – Final Production Version

Please check the product link to see the finalized production version.

🧵 Final Thoughts

Every step of this shoe development reflects our commitment to accuracy and craftsmanship.
From leather quality to pattern layout and color matching,
we aim for results that are true to the retail in every way.
